Meet the Author

I learned early in my youth the importance of music and reading. Music often helped me with my school work, and I am so grateful to be making music with my clients and students today. I began writing the Mr. Topaz series in 2005 to use in my therapy practice. Making it available online allowed readers to quickly use the books more creatively in schools and homes than I had ever imagined! Today I strive to put a book in every child's hand. 

In my work I do a lot of songwriting. I wanted to help families cope with life, namely, anger, fear, boredom, loneliness, and hopelessness. Songs are great, and I still write them, but it occurred to me that a story can engage one's attention in a different way and lead to sharing music as well. Story books are timeless and passed on for generations. I recall my favorite kids' books to this day. The first Mr. Topaz story led to another; hence, together we truly can build a peaceful world story-by-story.
